Develop High-Performance Anti-Corrosion Packaging Films
With Bio-Based VCI Technology
NuGRD-BIO™ VCI Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors Additive technology enables film manufacturers, masterbatch producers, and packaging converters to produce advanced corrosion protection films for automotive, industrial, export, and metal packaging applications.
Our bio-based VCI additive technology provides vapor-phase corrosion protection without oils, greases, or traditional rust preventive coatings. The technology protects ferrous and non-ferrous metals by creating an invisible molecular barrier within sealed packaging environments.
Designed for blown film and cast film production, NuVia™ VCI additives can be incorporated into polyethylene film structures using conventional film extrusion equipment.
Why Choose NuGRD-BIO™ VCI Additive For Plastic Film?

What Is VCI Film? How Does VCI Film Work?
What Is VCI Film? VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) film is a specialized anti-corrosion packaging film designed to protect metal parts during storage, transportation, and export. The film contains proprietary VCI additives that continuously release corrosion-inhibiting molecules within a sealed package environment.
How Does VCI Film Work? When metal components are packaged inside VCI film and the package is properly sealed, the active VCI molecules slowly vaporize and disperse throughout the enclosed space. These molecules are attracted to exposed metal surfaces, where they form an invisible molecular protective layer.
This protective barrier helps prevent electrochemical corrosion by reducing the interaction between metal surfaces and corrosive elements such as:
- Moisture and humidity
- Oxygen
- Salt and chlorides
- Industrial pollutants
- Acidic contaminants
Unlike traditional rust preventives that require oils, greases, or wax coatings, VCI technology protects both accessible and difficult-to-reach metal surfaces, including recessed areas, cavities, and complex geometries.
How VCI Additive Masterbatch Work in Plastic Film?
VCI additives are incorporated directly into the plastic film during blown film or cast film manufacturing. The VCI chemistry becomes evenly distributed throughout the film structure and remains active throughout the product’s service life.
Once the film is used to package metal components, the active molecules gradually migrate from the film surface into the package atmosphere, creating a protective corrosion-inhibiting environment around the metal parts. This continuous release mechanism helps maintain long-term protection during storage, domestic transportation, and international shipping.
Benefits of VCI Film Packaging
- Clean and dry corrosion protection
- No oils, greases, or post-cleaning required
- Multi-metal protection for ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Protection during storage, shipping, and export
- Suitable for complex-shaped components and assemblies
- Reduced packaging and handling costs
- Parts are ready for immediate use upon unpacking
VCI film is widely used for automotive components, industrial machinery, fabricated metal parts, bearings, tools, fasteners, electrical equipment, and export packaging applications where reliable corrosion protection is essential.
